My primary motivation for this blog is to keep it real with you guys. Actually to be honest, this blog is written more for me than it is for you. Selfish? Perhaps, but I consider these musings public journaling each and every time I sit down to write a piece. It’s my own positive self-talk, the voices in my head if you will, that push me to keep going. It’s no different than the weight-lifter yelling “1 MORE REP” to himself in the mirror.
Maybe the title for this piece is a bit sensationalist but when I read it to myself it’s raw and real. Let me say it here and now: there is nobody and nothing, coming to save you from whatever ails you at this moment. There is no savior. Now I realize this is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. Understand that I’m not making this a case for atheism or refuting all the many religions out there, that’s not my intent. I feel that we live in a day and age where people are waiting for someone or something to come solve their problems, to pull them out of the mire so to speak and that is simply not the case. If you harbor any offense or doubt to this then by all means I invite you to discontinue reading the rest of this piece.
I was raised being told that “I will never have anything put in front of me that I cannot handle; all of my trials and tribulations are simply tests”. How empowering is this statement? What a complete psychological rewiring this one profound statement makes. Regardless of whatever religious affiliation I may associate with this one simple statement reveals to me that the “make or break” point of every situation is ME! Only I have the POWER to choose how I REACT to my situation. Will I choose courage or comfort? Bravery or fear? Will I panic and flee or will I stand tall in the face of adversity? My salvation lies squarely on the power to CHOOSE my reaction.
Now I’m not saying that you have to walk this road alone. What I’m saying is regardless of whomever may be around to help provide that hand up, that spark that you need, only you can walk the road. You and only you must DO THE WORK.
Will it be hard? Hell yes it will. Will it be uncomfortable? Hell yes it will. Will you be afraid? Hell yes you will. Will you have doubts? Yes you will, but you must overcome those! True, everlasting growth, doesn’t come from the times of peace if anything it breeds complacency. True growth comes from the conquering of the struggle. Grant Cardone, author of “Be Obssessed or Be Average” dropped this bomb on me: “Learn to love FEAR, because FEAR is an indicator of the things you SHOULD be doing” Remember this equation: Growth comes from work, work comes from effort, and effort is uncomfortable. Effortless things do not translate into growth. Once something is effortless you’ve mastered it. Life, simply put, is choosing to grow and thrive or stand still and die. Understand this and suddenly you become the KNIGHT you so desperately were looking for, you become the MAGIC PILL you needed, you become the WINNING LOTTERY TICKET. So choose to be the HERO today!

My favorite so far! I really needed this today!
